Microbiome Testing
For a full analysis of your gut health, we require a Microbiome test. Microbiome tests should be done frequently if you are undergoing treatment for a chronic/acute condition that has been ongoing OR you are currently under a doctors care for more advanced illnesses. Some of the companies listed below do have “Subscription” prices which could lower the cost of the treatment significantly. This is a simple, noninvasive test and these are our recommendations for the company’s that do them…
Viome: This is our recommended test. It’s noted that they do try to sell products as a upgrade to their services and there may be simple ways, cheaper ways to improve the gut health without adding other products to your treatment, just a word of caution…
Viome offers the most comprehensive analysis, because of the testing. Viome does a Metatranscriptomic Sequencing which includes Gene Expression and metabolic processes.
Viome takes 2-3 weeks to do the analysis and the cost is about 149.00 UNLESS they are doing a promotion or Seasonal Sale which they do frequently.
Tiny Health. This test is generally used for children but it does not test for Virus or Fungi and there are no gene expressions offered. They emphasize Early-Life microbiome health and uses metagenomic testing which isn’t as broad as Metatransciptomic sequencing. They focus on Microbial composition and diversity but not as comprehensive because it doesn’t include all the species and strain levels.
Tiny Health takes 3-4 weeks to do the Analysis and the cost is 249.00 for a microbial composition and diversity assessment. They do offer a counseling session with a Microbiome Specialist, but the test is less complete so you wouldn’t get all the information that you would need for a treatment plan.
Ombre. This test only looks at Bacterial but no virus or fungi and no gene expression offered so the scope of the test is limited and very basic. Omebre seems to focus on bacterial species and recommends on that species presence. They also manufacture Probiotics.
Ombre takes 2-4 weeks to receive results and the cost is 99.00.
